Former VJ Daisy Fuentes On MTV Amid Major Changes: “It’s Been A Bit Sad For A While”

Daisy Fuentes is sharing her thoughts on MTV amid the major changes taking place at the network following the acquisition of Paramount Global by Skydance.

In a recent interview, the former VJ responded to news that MTV would be ending some of its international music channels at the end of 2025.

“I thought, while it’s a bit sad, it’s been a bit sad for a while. I think MTV had its time and history that time will never repeat, and it’s time to change,” Fuentes told People.

“We all change. We have to evolve. And I hope that there’s another version of them, just like there’s another version of us, us who were part of that we’re no longer the same. Why should we expect them to be? The world has changed so much,” she continued. “I’m curious to see its evolution. It could be great. I think change is good. I think it’s time. It will always be part of our youth.”

Not only is MTV ending some of its international music channels, which played music videos around the clock, but the main network is also canceling some of its long-running programming. Although it was a long time ago when MTV played actual music videos, its programming in recent years had been reruns of the clip show Ridiculousness. MTV was heavily trolled for its round-the-clock programming of the long-running series. On Friday, October 31, sources told Deadline the show was ending its run after 14 years.

In September, it was also reported that MTV had canceled Catfish: The TV Show after 9 seasons on the air.

All these changes are taking place amid its parent company reducing its workforce nearly three months after the close of the $8.4 billion merger of Paramount and Skydance.
