FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WHNT) — Renfro Brands has informed employees it plans to stop production at its Fort Payne facility, according to a letter obtained by News 19.
In a letter sent to employees shared with News 19, the company announced that it will cease production at its Fort Payne facility on Winn Ave NE as part of plans to consolidate its operations.
The letter was sent out to comply with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and said the layoffs associated with the closure will be effective Dec. 27, 2025.
In a statement shared with News 19, Renfro confirmed its plans to close its knitting and finishing operation in Fort Payne. The company said it plans to consolidate its manufacturing in Cleveland, Tennessee.

“Renfro Brands has a highly diversified hosiery and apparel business, and we are constantly adjusting our product mix and our supporting supply chain to better meet the needs of consumers and our retail customers.
“To that end, over the next several months, we will be consolidating much of our domestic manufacturing into our Cleveland, Tennessee facility. We will be making investments and expanding our operations in Tennessee where we expect to add at least 75 new positions. This consolidation will result in the closure of knitting and finishing operations in Ft. Payne, Alabama. Current Ft. Payne employees will receive priority consideration for new positions being created in Tennessee. We will maintain a presence in Ft. Payne with our warehousing and distribution operations there. This manufacturing consolidation will result in overall operations that are more efficient and more flexible.”
