President Trump is in the middle of a packed six-day trip to Asia, where he has been playing the roles of peacemaker, dealmaker and showman.
Mr. Trump’s excursion began in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he oversaw a border agreement between Thailand and Cambodia and signed trade deals with Southeast Asian nations.
He turned on the charm in Japan, where he met Sanae Takaichi, the newly elected conservative prime minister and the first woman to hold that role. They dined at Akasaka Palace in Tokyo and signed a deal on rare earths minerals. The night before, Mr. Trump was flown in a helicopter to meet with Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace.
The highlight of Mr. Trump’s trip is still to come, in South Korea — an expected meeting with Xi Jinping, China’s leader.
