PHOENIX — For Arizonans who are looking for somewhere to go on Friday for Halloween, Gilbert might be the spook-tacular spot you’re looking for.

The East Valley town was recently ranked in the top 10 best U.S. cities for Halloween as part of WalletHub’s “Best Cities for Halloween (2025).”

It came in ninth place out of the 100 cities that the study ranked. Chandler, Phoenix and Mesa were in the middle of the pack at No. 32, 51 and 65, respectively, whereas Tucson (No. 73), Scottsdale (No. 81) and Glendale (83) fell to the bottom.

New York was deemed the best place to be on Halloween and Jersey City, Los Angeles, Chicago and Las Vegas rounded out the top five.

How did Gilbert stack up against other cities in the Halloween study?

The study awarded U.S. cities up to 100 points broken down into three categories, including Trick-or-Treater-Friendliness (worth 60 points), Halloween Fun (worth 30 points) and Halloween Weather (worth 10 points).

Gilbert was given a total score of 54.11 points, which is less than 20 points under New York, the top city, with a score of 71.38.

In the category of Trick-or-Treater-Friendliness, Gilbert came in third place behind New York, the runner up, and Jersey City.

The town was given a very middling rank of 54 for Halloween Fun and dropped to the bottom of the pack for Halloween Weather at 89.

The town was recognized for its high percentage of trick-or-treaters and came in fourth, only having less than Fresno, California, Bakersfield, California and Laredo, Texas. Meanwhile, Scottsdale received the lowest score and took the title of worst city for potential trick-or-treaters.

In addition, Gilbert came in third for the percentage of potential trick-or-treat stops and took the top spot for the city with the lowest crime rate.

The cities that earned themselves the title of the worst places to spend Halloween were as follows from 96th to 100th: Anchorage, Alaska, Nashville, Tennessee, Birmingham, Alabama, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Memphis, Tennessee.
