EXCLUSIVE: Chandni Lakhani has signed with Creative Artists Agency for representation.
Lakhani co-created and wrote the hit Netflix series Department Q, alongside Academy Award nominee Scott Frank.
The series adaptation of Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen’s crime novels, Department Q, stars Matthew Goode as DCI Carl Morck. After a violent incident turns Morck’s life upside down, the emotionally scarred detective is charged with setting up the cold case unit, Department Q, upon his return to work. At first, the disillusioned cop is happy to waste his days away. Still, his detective instincts are ultimately reawakened, and his new department becomes a magnet for a crew of misfits and mavericks.
The Edinburgh-set series spent six weeks on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list for TV. Season 1 premiered in May and has since been renewed for a second season. In addition to Goode, Chloe Pirrie, Alexej Manvelov, Leah Byrne, and Kelly Macdonald also star.
Lakhani’s previous credits include the BBC One and Peacock British police procedural Vigil and BBC One and Starz’s Dublin Murders. She began her career as a script editor on Charlie Brooker’s Emmy Award-winning series Black Mirror for Netflix, helping to develop episodes, including “San Junipero” and “USS Callister.”
Most recently, Universal International Studios secured her latest original series pitch in a competitive bidding situation, making a significant pilot script commitment.
Lakhani continues to be represented in the UK by Independent Talent Group and by attorneys Yorn Levine Barnes.
