Netflix has locked in the principal cast for A Dog’s Perfect Christmas, a new family holiday film based on the novel of the same name by Bruce Cameron, the New York Times bestselling author of the A Dog’s Purpose franchise.
The call sheet includes Dennis Quaid (The Substance), Milo Ventimiglia (This Is Us), Brooke Lena Johnson (Cruel Intentions), Jennifer Tilly (Chucky), Ethan Loomis, Kathleen Rose Perkins (Doogie Kamealoha, M.D.) and Mary Steenburgen (Easy’s Waltz).
Published in 2020, A Dog’s Perfect Christmas follows a family in crisis where a teenager, her grandfather, and his trusty basset hound struggle to keep the household together at Christmas. Character details for the cast have not yet been disclosed.
Following her work as co-writer on A Dog’s Purpose (2017) and A Dog’s Journey (2019), both released by Universal Pictures, Cathryn Michon has been set to direct from a script written with author Cameron. Dan Angel (Out of My Mind, Ransom Canyon), Michael G. Nathanson, and Jane Charles are producing, with Cameron, Michon, Stephanie Sperber, and David Steward II serving as executive producers.
