PHOENIX — XNRGY, a company specializing in data center cooling, recently celebrated the grand opening of its new manufacturing facility in Mesa, which will produce advanced heating and air conditioning systems for data centers.

The Mesa 1 facility, which stretches across 275,000 square feet, represents the first step Canada-based XNRGY has taken in the U.S.

How will XNRGY Mesa manufacturing facility impact the local tech sector?

Now that it’s fully operational, Mesa 1 represents a major milestone in Arizona’s manufacturing sector, according to Mesa Vice Mayor Scott Somers.

“XNRGY’s expansion in southeast Mesa reflects the kind of smart growth our community values — jobs, opportunities and investment that strengthen local businesses,” Somers said in an announcement.

He was one of several local leaders who attended the grand opening event last Thursday, which celebrated the company’s role in delivering next-generation cooling solutions.

“With modern infrastructure and a robust talent pipeline, Mesa offers what companies like XNRGY need to succeed,” Somers said. “Our vision is to attract 100,000 high-value jobs to Mesa, and partnerships like this are steady steps toward that future.”

Company provides essential data center cooling equipment

XNRGY makes innovative cooling fans that help large-scale data centers maintain proper equipment temperatures. For context, these are essential technologies in today’s high-tech world, where data centers generate significant amounts of heat and need specialized cooling equipment.

Put simply, without advanced cooling technologies keeping data centers running efficiently, large-scale technologies like artificial intelligence wouldn’t be able to operate reliably or at the scale we see today.

Gov. Katie Hobbs said facilities like this help strengthen Arizona’s growing technological sector.

“Arizona is a global hub for advanced manufacturing, and XNRGY’s state-of-the-art facilities showcase our leadership in high-growth industries such as manufacturing, technology, and more,” she said.

“With this new facility, XNRGY will support sustainable data center infrastructure growth in Arizona and nationwide.”

New XNRGY Mesa manufacturing facility set to expand

Once it’s fully expanded, Mesa 1 is expected to create 900 jobs in the East Valley. The facility is part of a $300 million investment at Gateway East, a business park near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Another element of that investment is Mesa 2, a second manufacturing facility that XNRGY officials announced in September.

The 330,000-square-foot Mesa 2 facility will make XNRGY’s newest air-cooled chiller. The next-generation device combines the company’s smart controls and AI with Copeland technology for better efficiency and performance.

Company leaders expect the Mesa 2 facility to bring an additional 500 jobs to the city.

“The opening of XNRGY’s new facility marks an exciting milestone in Arizona’s thriving manufacturing sector,” Arizona Commerce Authority President and CEO Sandra Watson said.

“The Mesa facilities will help drive growth of digital infrastructure powering the AI economy, further positioning Arizona at the epicenter of next-gen technology development.”
