HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — October will end looking and feeling like fall across the Tennessee Valley! The Weather Authority will be tracking the next weather system that is forecast to bring another chance of rain and gusty winds.
An area of low pressure will track eastward into the region late Tuesday into Wednesday. This system will support the chance of rain showers and blustery conditions.
As the pressure gradient tightens, winds will ramp back up here at the surface. Sustained west-northwest winds are forecast to range from 10 to 20 mph with gusts over 30 mph possible. The strongest winds are expected to impact the region during the morning commute on Wednesday.
Ensure that all outdoor decorations are securely in place.
Isolated showers will be possible on Tuesday morning, with the coverage of rain increasing west to east by mid to late afternoon. Pockets of moderate to heavy rain will move in Tuesday night and continue into the morning commute on Wednesday.
The combination of strong winds and rain could impact the morning commute on Wednesday, so allow yourself plenty of time.
Cooler-Than-Normal Temperatures:
Above the surface, a strong low-pressure system will lead to a trough digging into the jet stream. This weather pattern will allow for some of the coldest air of the season so far, with highs forecast to only reach the mid to upper 50s Wednesday through Friday.
We will also see chilly mornings ahead, with many waking up on Halloween in the upper 30s to low 40s.
