EXCLUSIVE: Production is underway in New York on C-Side, an independent feature film from writer-director Stacey Maltin (Triple Threat), who reunites with Emmy and Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh (Nobody Wants This) following her performance in the helmer’s 2026 Oscar-contending live-action short film, Malka.

The ensemble cast for C-Side also includes co-writer and Triple Threat alumnus Jay DeYonker (FBI Most Wanted), Andy Mientus (Smash, Broadway’s Wicked), Lea DeLaria (Orange Is the New Black) and Jelani Alladin (Fellow Travelers, The Walking Dead: World Beyond).

C-Side follows a messy, heartbroken man who returns to the city hoping to win back the ex he ghosted and reconnect with his chosen family, but he finds that everyone’s moved on — except him. As the logline states, “Now he has one chaotic weekend to make things right … or finally let go.”

Rounding out the cast are Jessica Vosk (Broadway’s Wicked and Hell’s Kitchen), social media star Kyle Gordon (behind the viral “Planet of the Bass” song), Rivkah Reyes (School of Rock), standup comic Jay Jurden (The Problem with Jon Stewart), Rebecca Metz (Shameless, Better Things), Pooja Tripathi (satirical web series Brooklyn Coffee Shop) and Jeffrey Weber (producer of Maltin’s Mashed miniseries and Ramona at Midlife).

Casting for C-Side is by Andrew Dahreddine, and the film is produced by Mashed and Triple Threat producer Jackie Schwartz, Brooklyn Coffee Shop producer Hannah Meholick and Jazmin Patino.

Prior to C-Side, Maltin directed Malka, the short film written by Lenny Schwartz, which follows the titular Holocaust survivor (played by Felshuh), who starts to see visions of her life at the camps during a present-day family Seder. As time falls in on itself, Malka must find the hope in the present that she had in the past in order to survive. The project qualified for the Oscar race after winning the Best Narrative Short Film award at the Academy Award-qualifying Cinequest Film Festival.

Maltin’s previous feature, Triple Threat, a queer musical love story about the evolving relationship between three best friends on the verge of their Broadway debut, in which she also starred, is currently streaming on Peacock.
