A defunct Long Island supermarket is causing a big stink among locals after its owners allegedly tossed leftover food — inclusing raw meat and produce — in a dumpster out back, letting it sit rotting more than a week after the store’s closure.

The former owners of Frank’s Fairway in North Massapequa were issued violations from the Town of Oyster Bay after neighbors complained the stench of decaying food rising from the grocery store’s dumpsters was attracting animals.

“You can imagine the smell,” a neighbor told News 12, pointing out that the dumpsters’ lids had even been left open.

Frank’s Fairway closed down on Oct. 13. After it shuttered, workers allegedly took whatever food was left inside and simply dropped it in the trash out back.

The garbage wasn’t picked up and remained moldering there for at least 10 days. It’s unclear if the mess has been cleaned since the violations were lodged.

“To flat up leave us with the store full of food is wrong,” neighbor Ann Spellman said.

“I don’t know when they are going to pick this up,” she added.

The problem prompted neighbors to rage against the smelly situation on social media until the town stepped in.

Numerous others also told News 12 that they’re fearful of what could still be rotting inside the store.

Frank’s Fairway’s owners were “issued violations and has a pending court appearance against the two owners” the Town of Oyster Bay told News 12.

It remains unclear what citations the owners received.

But they denied the accusations from the town and neighbors, called the citations completely “unfounded.”

The town assured residents that it was working with the owner and the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to clear out the trash.
