TRINITY, Ala. (WHNT) — East Lawrence Elementary School will be closed on Friday as staff members will be attending funeral services of a beloved teacher.
East Lawrence Elementary School announced in a social media post that Mrs. Charity Clark passed away. She was more than a teacher, she was a dear friend.

“Mrs. Clark was a bright light within our East Lawrence Elementary family. Her love for teaching and passion for helping children learn and grow were evident in everything she did. She poured her heart into her classroom—encouraging, inspiring, and believing in every student who crossed her path. Her gentle spirit, joyful smile, and unwavering dedication made a lasting difference in the lives of her students, coworkers, and our entire school community.
While our hearts are broken by her loss, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue to live on in the countless students she nurtured and inspired.
Please keep Mrs. Clark’s family, friends, and our ELES faculty and staff in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

It is important to note that East Lawrence Middle School (ELMS) and East Lawrence High School (ELHS) will operate as normal on Friday, October 24.
The East Lawrence buses will run their normal routes but will not pick up East Lawrence Elementary School students.
Middle School or High School students who would like to attend Mrs. Clark’s funeral may have their absence excused with a note.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Danville Baptist Church.
