The Hollywood Burbank Airport will soon offer its first direct flight to Hawai’i in more than two decades, officials announced Friday.

Starting May 13, 2026, Alaska Airlines will launch a new daily seasonal route between Burbank (BUR) and Honolulu’s Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), giving Los Angeles-area travelers a new option to reach the islands.

“Hollywood Burbank Airport is honored to be selected by Alaska Airlines as the next Southern California gateway to my home state,” said airport Executive Director John Hatanaka. “Our mahalo nui loa (“Thank you very much”) to Alaska for making our hope of having air service once again to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport a reality.”

According to Alaska Airlines, the addition is part of its effort to “redefine what it means to connect guests to a remarkable travel experience rooted in safety, care, convenience and performance,” said Kirsten Amrine, the airline’s vice president of revenue management and network planning.

The announcement also comes as Burbank Airport prepares to open its long-awaited replacement passenger terminal in October 2026, part of its Elevate BUR project aimed at modernizing facilities and improving passenger experience.

Tickets are on sale now at alaskaair.com.
