Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with a vandalism incident in Newbury Park after detectives determined they were responsible for throwing a rock at a passing vehicle, causing significant damage, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday.

According to a news release from the department, the incident happened on September 29, 2025, near Via Las Brisas and Via Antonio. Detectives from the East County Major Crimes Bureau concluded their investigation on October 23, identifying two local juveniles, ages 13 and 15, as suspects.

Authorities said the investigation began after deputies received several reports over recent months of juveniles riding e-bikes and throwing objects at moving vehicles in the area. Witness statements and collected evidence ultimately linked the two suspects to the vandalism.

Both teens were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy and felony vandalism, the Sheriff’s Office said. They were later released into the custody of their parents. Several other juveniles who were present at the time were interviewed but found not to have participated in the act.

In the release, the Sheriff’s Office reminded the public that vandalism and reckless behavior in public spaces can endanger community safety and will be fully investigated. Parents and guardians were urged to talk with their children about the consequences of such actions.

Anyone with information about similar incidents is encouraged to contact Detective Steve Donlon at (805) 494-8228 or [email protected]. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Ventura County Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477), which offers rewards of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and criminal complaint.
