A Southern California tutor was arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a teen girl.
The suspect was identified as Tsungyu Chien, 57, of Arcadia. On Oct. 21, Arcadia police were alerted to a possible sexual abuse incident involving the girl and her tutor.
The victim said she was driven to Chien’s Arcadia home on Oct. 20 and while there, he convinced her to allow him to give her a massage. During the massage, he allegedly touched her inappropriately.
The girl said she felt uncomfortable and asked Chien to drive her back home. She told a school counselor about the incident the next day and the counselor notified the police, according to Pasadena Star News.
“During follow-up interviews, detectives learned the suspect had contacted the victim via text messages after the incident,” authorities said. “Detectives reviewed the messages and discovered the suspect was parked outside the victim’s home.”
Police responded to the girl’s home, where they found Chien outside her residence. He was arrested at the scene and booked for sexual battery, sexual penetration with a foreign object and child annoyance. Police did not release the suspect’s photo or the victim’s age.
Authorities told Pasadena Star News that Chien was a college coach who had been tutoring the girl for about a year. He reportedly worked with clients all across the Southland.
Due to Chien’s work as a tutor and the potential contact with other juveniles, detectives are searching for more possible victims.
Anyone who believes they may have had inappropriate contact or interactions with Chien is asked to call Arcadia police at 626-574-5188 or 626-574-5183 and reference case number 2504209.
