HAZEL GREEN, Ala. (WHNT) — Hazel Green High School Football Coach Fredrick Farrier has resigned from his position.
Madison County School officials thanked Farrier for his leadership and dedication to the student-athletes during his time at Hazel Green.
MCS told News 19 that current Defensive Coordinator, Torrey Strong, will serve as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.
Madison County Schools released the following statement:
“Coach Strong’s leadership provides valuable consistency for our players and program as they continue their season. Our focus remains on supporting our student-athletes and ensuring a positive experience for the team and school community. Hazel Green High School offers an engaged community, dedicated student-athletes, and new facilities that reflect the continued investment in Trojan athletics. We look forward to welcoming a head coach to build upon that foundation and continue advancing the program’s success.”
Ferrier is stepping down during his second season with the Trojans. This year the team is currently (2-6), and is set to face Southside High School on October 24. This year the team has beat East Limestone and Lee High School.
Before coaching at Hazel Green, Ferrier was a running backs and specials teams coordinator at Alabama A&M University. Before that he was the associate head coach and wide receivers coach at South Carolina State University.
According to officials, the process to find a new head football coach to lead the Trojans program will begin soon.
