Ghosts, goblins and ghouls will soon take over local parks as the County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation prepares to host its annual Trick or Treat Village, a free Halloween celebration returning to 59 parks across the county from Oct. 22 to 31.

The community event, announced by LA County Parks, will transform neighborhood green spaces into festive “villages” offering live music, costume contests, arts and crafts, pumpkin carving, carnival games, and, of course, plenty of free candy. Each park will host its own themed celebration on select dates, providing residents with multiple opportunities to enjoy the spooky season close to home.

Organizers said the goal is to offer families a safe, family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween while encouraging neighbors to gather and share in the holiday spirit. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume, bring friends, and take part in the festivities that also include raffles, movie nights, and spooky storytelling by county staff.

The event has become a seasonal favorite, drawing thousands of residents each year for an evening of games, music and treats — all at no cost.

LA County Parks highlighted that the Halloween series will stretch across the region, from Adventure Park in Whittier to El Cariso Community Regional Park in Sylmar, and Franklin D. Roosevelt Park in South Los Angeles to Val Verde Park in Castaic. Dates and times vary by location.

Residents can find the full list of participating parks, event dates and contact information online.
