Former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. has completed a round of a radiation therapy for prostate cancer, his spokeswoman said on Monday.

Mr. Biden, 82, began radiation therapy and hormone treatment last month for an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones. His office announced the diagnosis in May.

Kelly Scully, Mr. Biden’s spokeswoman, confirmed on Monday that he had completed a round of radiation therapy. She did not provide details about what comes next. It is unclear if Mr. Biden has fully completed the radiation treatment for his cancer.

His daughter, Ashley Biden, posted a video on Monday of Mr. Biden ringing a bell at Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology in Philadelphia — a tradition that patients perform to mark a major treatment milestone.

“Rung the Bell!” Ms. Biden wrote on social media. “Thank you to the incredible doctors, nurses, and staff at Penn Medicine.”

Mr. Biden has had many health problems, including a brain aneurysm he suffered in 1988.

Last month, Ms. Scully said he had undergone surgery to remove cancerous skin lesions from his forehead. In 2023, when he was president, he had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest.
