Richard Marx never took any notice of the amorous female fans who swarmed him in the ’80s and ’90s.

The “Right Here Waiting” crooner tells Page Six in a recent exclusive interview that “of course” he had groupies, but “that wasn’t really much of a trapping for me back then.”

Marx explains that he ignored them for two reasons.

“I was already dating the woman who would become my first wife [‘Dirty Dancing’ star Cynthia Rhodes],” he shares, “and we were together for almost 30 years.”

The Grammy winner says he didn’t want to “be a douchebag” and “it was a little easier for me to resist because I had this sense of, I was still the guy in high school who couldn’t get a date.”

“And then all of a sudden, overnight, I have a big video on MTV and now all these girls are throwing themselves at me,” he remembers, adding that instead of viewing himself as sexy, he compared them to the “same girls that didn’t look twice at me two weeks ago.”

“So I think it helped keep a level head on my shoulder and a pretty good relationship with that whole seduction of thinking that you’re something you’re not,” he explains.

Marx and Rhodes, who share three sons, divorced in 2014.

He married MTV alum Daisy Fuentes the following year and still can’t believe how lucky he is.

“I still kind of look across the room at her, or look at her in the car next to me, and I kind of can’t believe it,” he enthuses. “I had a crush on her … You know, every once in a while, I just say to myself, I can’t believe I’m married to Daisy Fuentes. It’s like crazy.”

Marx has had a lengthy and successful career that spans over four decades.

He has had 14 No. 1 singles and has written songs for a host of other artists, including *NSYNC, Luther Vandross, Kenny Rogers, Barbra Streisand and Ringo Starr.

Amazingly, Marx claims he has never experienced writer’s block and doesn’t believe in it.

“If you have to write, then just write,” he says. “Write. And even if you write s–t for ten minutes, somewhere along the way you’re going to stumble upon two bars that you go, well, that’s not bad. And then you build on that. But writer’s block, in my opinion, is just an excuse not to write.”

“To be honest,” he added, “I haven’t in all these years of writing songs. 40-something years now. I don’t recall a 24-hour period where something didn’t enter my brain.”

Marx will make his long-awaited Café Carlyle debut in NYC with After Hours: Confessions at Café Carlyle, running from October 21–25 and featuring his iconic hits.

He also has a new single called “Magic Hour” featuring longtime pal John Stamos on congas and co-written with Fuentes.
