Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who left an elderly woman in critical condition in Valley Glen.
On Oct. 17, the victim, identified only as a woman in her 70s, was walking near Chandler and Van Nuys Boulevards in a marked crosswalk around 9:20 a.m.
As she crossed the road, a suspect in a silver Lexus NX350H SUV struck her and continued speeding away, Los Angeles police said.
The woman was left with severe injuries from the impact. She was transported to the hospital where she remains in critical condition. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The suspect never stopped to check on her and was last seen driving east on Chandler Boulevard.
“Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves,” LAPD said.
Detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s identification, apprehension and conviction.
