Spotify has made yet another video podcasting deal, this time with Samsung TV Plus.
Samsung TV Plus announced Wednesday that it is launching its first FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) channel in partnership with The Ringer, which boasts one of Spotify’s most popular podcast collections.
Some of the podcasts that will be included in this channel include The Rewatchables, Higher Learning with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay, Speidi’s 16th Minute, Book of Basketball 2.0, The Big Picture and The Ringer-verse.
The news of this deal comes just one day after Netflix announced its own video podcasting deal with Spotify that will see more than a dozen shows from Spotify, including The Bill Simmons Podcast and The Ringer Fantasy Football Show, launch on Netflix next year.
Unlike that deal, which will take new episodes of those podcasts off YouTube entirely, Samsung’s deal appears to be non-exclusive, essentially creating a greatest hits channel for The Ringer’s content library. Samsung TV Plus’ new FAST Channel will be always-on and subscription free, which could be enticing to viewers looking to rewatch episodes at random or explore new content.
