Two men have been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting of a 67-year-old man in Orange County last month.
In a news release, officials at the Garden Grove Police Department said the gun violence occurred Sept. 21 at around 4 p.m. in the 12600 block of Westminster Avenue in Garden Grove.
Officers, responding to a report of a man suffering gunshot wounds, discovered Mario Barrios had been shot multiple times in the upper body. He was rushed to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased.
At that time, investigators had no suspect description and were asking for the public’s help in locating the person or persons responsible for the fatal encounter.
Investigators continued working on leads related to the incident and announced that two suspects, 37-year-old Garden Grove resident Rodolfo Ramirez and 51-year-old Santa Ana resident Gustavo Covarrubias, were arrested on Oct. 14.
A motive in the deadly shooting was not provided, nor did police say whether the three men knew each other.
“We would like to thank the public for their patience and cooperation during this investigation,” Garden Grove officials said.
Both men were booked at the Orange County Jail.
