From face wraps to nipple bras, Kim Kardashian is not afraid to go there. But, she might have just taken it too far with her latest Skims product launch.
On Tuesday morning, Skims announced that they would be entering the merkin market, launching a capsule aptly named “The Ultimate Bush.”
The collection features barely-there thongs with a variety of hair textures and tones attached to the front.
Along with a borderline problematic campaign video set on a 1970s-style game show called “Does the Capet Match the Drapes,” the collection’s tagline is “With our daring new Faux Hair Panty, your carpet can be whatever color you want it to be.”
In the video, a suited host asks the live studio audience to guess whether each of the models’ “hair down there” matches the color of the hair on her head. While a parody, it dances along — if not fully crosses — the line when it comes to objectivity.
After only an hour on Instagram, the video already has almost 500 comments, most of which are less than supportive.
“I’m calling 911,” wrote one follower, while another joked, “I just googled the date to make sure it’s not April 1st.”
“Who asked for this???” and “@kimkardashian are you ok?” were the sentiments of the rest, with one commenter going so far as to write, “I can’t unsee and I demand a refund for something I never even paid for.”
This isn’t Kardashian’s first headline-making product for Skims; most have been met with support by shoppers.
However polarizing, her nipple bras became a viral sensation.
And even her face wrap, while comical, wasn’t quite as befuddling once it went mainstream on the interwebs.
Back in December, Kardashian teased her newest product with a faux fur bikini, hinting at merkin style, although she had yet to take the plunge… until now.
