A woman found dead in her Southern California home is believed to have been murdered by a man she was having a romantic relationship with, investigators said Tuedsay.
Deputies were sent to the 4000 block of Village Drive in the city of Chino Hills shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 8 to respond to a call for medical aid, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department stated.
The resident, identified as 44-year-old Jillian Jones, was found dead in the home from what the Sheriff’s Department determined to be a “fatal traumatic injury.”
Homicide detectives took over the investigation and determined that Jones was involved in a romantic relationship with a Victorville resident named Vincent Ratliff.
On Oct. 9, the 62-year-old Ratliff was contacted in Victorville as he left his home and was detained by authorities, the Sheriff’s Department said.
He was taken to the West Valley Detention Center and booked on suspicion of murder.
“Based on numerous pieces of evidence investigators have located since the incident, it is believed Ratliff killed Jillian in a domestic violence-related incident,” the Sheriff’s Department said.
