Will MacKenzie, Simon Cooper, Neil Sutherland, and Jay Cartwright are set for another round of misadventures.

The Inbetweeners is poised to return to the screen after more than a decade under a deal struck by Banijay UK and Fudge Park Productions.

Banijay did not disclose whether a film or TV series is in development from creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, though a movie in Las Vegas has been teased. A stage iteration may also be considered.

The Inbetweeners launched as a TV series on Channel 4’s youth network E4 in 2008, with a second season airing two years later. Two movies followed in 2011 and 2014, both of which topped the UK box office.

It was produced by Bwark Productions, originally founded by Morris and Beesley, which later sold to Zodiak Media, acquired by Banijay in 2016. The writers set up Fudge Park in 2015.

“Incredibly exciting to be plotting more adventures for our four favourite friends (ooh friends),” the duo commented.

Banijay UK CEO Patrick Holland added: “I have worked with Damon and Iain on a number of Fudge Park projects over the years and was delighted to pick up the conversation about the future of The Inbetweeners with them. They have an infectious creative vision for the brand which will resonate with audience old and new so I can’t wait to get going.”

In August last year, The Inbetweeners actor Joe Thomas (Simon) said he and co-stars James Buckley (Jay), Simon Bird (Will), and Blake Harrison (Neil) would consider reuniting for a third movie.

He told the Always Be Comedy podcast that the idea had been discussed in “various forms and all of us feel like it would be nice.”

“We’re all still around, we’re all still in each other’s lives. We all still like each other. And if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,” Thomas said.

Thomas said a stag do, also known as a bachelor party, could be the ideal vehicle for a reunion, adding that Las Vegas would be an interesting venue for the boys to reunite.
