Half a dozen people linked to a South American theft group were arrested after some of them tightroped their way between two 7th floor balconies in a failed escape attempt.

The Burbank Police Department stated that the investigation into the group started in June when a residential burglary occurred. The exact date and location of the incident was not disclosed.

BPD said that detectives with their department and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department recently served a search warrant related to the case at an apartment building; according to photos posted by Burbank police, the building was located near downtown Los Angeles.

“[BPD] Detectives and SBSD detectives served a search warrant at the 7th floor apartment, and they found it unoccupied,” officials said. “Detectives quickly realized that four suspects fled out of the rear 7th story balcony and tightroped across a narrow ledge to a neighboring apartment balcony.”

It is not known whether the other two suspects were present in the apartment at the time or if they were apprehended at another location.

After locating and arresting the suspects who crawled to the balcony, the detectives searched the apartment and found “a plethora of evidence” which confirmed the suspects’ involvements in “numerous” residential burglaries.

“Detectives were able to solve five residential burglaries that occurred in Burbank, Monterey Park and Chino Hills,” Burbank police said.

All six suspects – none of whom were named – were transported to the Burbank Police Department jail and booked for residential burglary and receiving stolen property.

One of the photos posted by BPD shows “pink cocaine” being made in a blender and “hundreds” of empty plastic baggies; however, there was no indication any of the suspects were charged with drug-related crimes.
