EXCLUSIVE: Sky has acquired A24 and Peacock‘s Friday the 13th series, Crystal Lake, and will launch it next year. The deal covers the UK and Ireland and will see the series play on Sky and its streaming service, Now.
Crystal Lake is the first project in the Friday the 13th franchise since Marcus Nispen’s 2009 reboot movie, which was the twelfth film instalment overall. The seminal first slasher movie was released in 1980.
The series stars Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me, No Good Deed), who plays the iconic Pamela Voorhees from the Friday the 13th franchise. Also starring are William Catlett (A Thousand and One, Constellation), Devin Kessler (Godfather of Harlem), Cameron Scoggins (Shades of Blue, Nashville) and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
The plot is expected to follow Cardellini’s Voorhees as a mother who gave up a singing career to raise a special needs child and takes a dark turn when she loses her son.

Callum Vinson (Chucky, Long Bright River), Nick Cordileone (Warrior), Joy Suprano (Fleishman is in Trouble, Best Foot Forward), Danielle Kotch (Director’s Cut) and Phoenix Parnevik (Bel-Air, Don’t Tell Mom) will be recurring guest stars.
Michael Lennox (Say Nothing, Derry Girls), directing duo Celine Held and Logan George (Topside, Caddo Lake),and Quyen Tran (Sirens, The Pitt) will direct multiple episodes. Lennox will also serve as executive producer.
Crystal Lake comes from showrunner, writer, and executive producer Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry), who joins A24 and original Friday the 13th writer Victor Miller and Horror Inc. in bringing the story to the screen. Further executive producers are A24, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox.
The deal with A24 was negotiated by Katie Keenan, Group Director of Acquisitions for Sky UK and Europe, and Facundo Bailez, Head of Acquisitions.
