Police arrested a Glendora man suspected in multiple child luring and sexual assault incidents in the San Gabriel Valley, officials announced Thursday.
The West Covina Police Department identified the suspect as Oscar Jimenez Larios, 39, and said he is accused of attempting to lure underage girls near schools and bus stops and committing at least one sexual assault on a minor earlier this year.
The first case, according to police, happened in February when Larios approached a teenage girl waiting at a West Covina bus stop and convinced her that he would drive her to school.
“Instead of taking her to school, Larios drove to a nearby parking lot in West Covina, where he sexually assaulted the victim,” police stated.
Authorities said Larios struck again earlier in October, when witnesses allegedly saw him attempt to lure two other teenage girls near a middle school and elementary school in West Covina.
Detectives arrested Larios on Oct. 6 and booked him into the West Covina City Jail, the department said, adding that the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed two counts of lewd and lascivious acts upon a minor and three counts of annoying and molesting a child.
As of Thursday morning, Larios was being held in the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s custody with a bail of $290,000.
