EXCLUSIVE: The Couple Next Door are travelling the world. Season 2 of the psychological thriller series, The Couple Next Door – Deadly Attraction, has been picked up by buyers in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

In Europe, Italian public broadcaster RAI has acquired the show, as has Canal+ for Poland and VTM for Belgium. A trio of Scandi pubcasters have licensed the drama, with DR in Denmark, SVT in Sweden, and YLE in Finland taking it. the Foxtel Group has picked up the series for Australia, TVNZ has taken Kiwi rights, and Now TV has it in Hong Kong. NBCUniversal has snagged LatAm and Safe Media has the Middle East.

Beta Film handles distribution and has sold the show into over 50 territories in all. The bumper sales haul comes ahead of MIPCOM where it will look to close more deals.

Billed as a sexy thriller, the show premiered on Channel 4 in the UK this summer. It stars Sam Palladio (Nashville), Annabel Scholey (Being Human), Aggy Adams (The Witcher), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes) and Hugh Dennis (Fleabag).

The story revolves around a power couple, Charlotte (Scholey) and Jacob (Palladio). She is a brilliant heart surgeon and he is a consultant anesthetist, they are happily child free, and have money and a beautiful home. But when Charlotte’s old flame Leo (Ramamurthy) arrives on the scene as a potential new investor at the hospital where they work, Jacob’s long-suppressed worries come to the surface. And then mysterious nurse Mia (Adams) comes into their lives, but as patients start dying at the hospital, is she all she appears to be?

It is the follow-up series to The Couple Next Door, which starred Sam Heughan and was one of Channel 4’s biggest scripted streaming launches when it bowed in 2023.

The six-part drama, produced by Eagle Eye Drama for Channel 4 in association with Beta Film, is loosely adapted from the Scandinavian drama Fatal Injections by Kamikaze Film. Eagle Eye Drama also produced the first The Couple Next Door series, which is based on the Dutch format The Neighbours by Millstreet Films. Beta Film sells both series internationally.
