(KTLA/NEXSTAR) – KISS rocker Gene Simmons is thanking fans for their concern after he crashed his SUV earlier this week.
Simmons, 76, was driving along the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu on Tuesday when he reportedly fainted behind the wheel, causing his car to cross over several lanes and slam into a parked car, authorities said. His wife, Shannon Tweed Simmons, told TMZ that her husband had recently been prescribed new medication and was dehydrated, which caused him to black out.
Simmons was evaluated at a hospital after the incident.
“Mr. Simmons is totally fine from this minor fender bender. Thanks for checking,” a representative for Simmons told Nexstar’s KTLA on Wednesday.
That evening, Simmons copped to being a “horrible driver” in a post shared to X.
“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine,” he wrote. “I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”
Kiss retired from a half-century of touring in 2023, but Simmons and his bandmates plan to play in November at a special event in Las Vegas. In August, President Donald Trump announced that Kiss will be among this year’s Kennedy Center honorees.
