MUMBAI, India — As Donald Trump threatens to impose 100 percent tariffs on foreign-made films, Britain is looking to strengthen ties with India’s Bollywood industry.

U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced on a visit to Mumbai Wednesday that India’s Yash Raj Film will shoot three new blockbusters in Britain from next year.

The Labour leader welcomed the investment — which Downing Street said would create more than 3,000 jobs — while joined by a delegation of some of the leading lights in the U.K. industry, such as the British Film Institute, Pinewood Studios and Elstree Studios.

Yash Raj have a history of filming in Britain, but No. 10 said these would be their first following an eight-year hiatus.

“Bollywood is back in Britain, and it’s bringing jobs, investment and opportunity, all while showcasing the UK as a world-class destination for global filmmaking,” Starmer said in a statement.

It was just last week that the U.S. president threatened to impose a 100 percent flat tariff on “any and all movies that are made outside of the United States.”

“Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other countries, just like stealing ‘candy from a baby,’” he wrote on Truth Social, triggering concerns in Britain that its film industry could see more delays in investment thanks to Trump’s threats.
