PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs kicked off her reelection campaign Wednesday by touting her record while leading a divided state government.

“I’m running to serve you for four more years because there’s more work to do,” the Democrat said in a video announcement. “While Washington, D.C., keeps driving up prices, I’m taking action to bring them down, to fix our state’s education system and to keep Arizona a safe place for all of our families.”

Hobbs will probably face developer Karrin Taylor Robson, U.S. Rep. Andy Biggs or U.S. Rep. David Schweikert in the 2026 general election. President Donald Trump endorsed both Taylor Robson and Biggs in the GOP primary race.

Hobbs served in the Arizona Legislature and as secretary of state before running for governor. When she defeated Republican nominee and Trump loyalist Kari Lake in 2022, she became the first Democrat elected governor in Arizona since Janet Napolitano won reelection in 2006.

Gov. Katie Hobbs’ campaign launch video focuses on acheivements

Though Hobbs has vetoed a record number of bills sent to her by the Republican-controlled Legislature, her campaign launch video, which is titled “Arizona Stories,” focuses on the progress of her first term, including:

  • Cutting taxes for middle class families, businesses and veterans.
  • Lowering child care costs.
  • Turning a $1.4 billion deficit into a balanced budget.
  • Taking the lead in chip manufacturing while creating good-paying jobs.
  • Sending the National Guard to the border to combat drug and human trafficking.
  • Ending the water lease of a Saudi-owned company that was sending its product overseas.

“To get all this done in such partisan times, you’ve got to have thick skin and an ability to put politics aside,” she said. “But it’s easier when you know exactly who you’re working for.”
