Peace talks ongoing in Egypt
Israeli officials are in Cairo negotiating a ceasefire agreement with Hamas based on presented by US President Donald Trump.
The agreement would see the remaining 47 Israeli hostages returned (25 of whom are presumed dead), a cessation of Israel’s bombing campaign and the creation of an interim government for Gaza led by former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
International representatives, including German Foreign Minister , will also be attending the talks.
Tens of thousands of civilians, many of them children, have been killed since Israel’s military campaign in Gaza began. The high amount of civilian deaths coupled with the restriction of food and medical aid have led international groups, including a UN commission of inquiry, to qualify Israel’s war in Gaza as a genocide.

Israelis mark two years since Hamas attack
On Hamas militants breached the heavily guarded Israel-Gaza border and launched an attack on civilians in several border communities, as well as at the Nova music festival.
About 1,200 people were killed in Israel, and 251 were taken hostage.
Memorials were planned at various sites in Israel throughout Tuesday, but many people also gathered at the site of the music festival to mourn their loved ones.
Dozens of friends and relatives held a minute of silence and lit candles at the site, where 370 people were killed.
A larger state-organized commemoration event is planned for October 16.
