The upscale Los Angeles grocery chain Erewhon has introduced a new limited-edition smoothie featuring GORGIE, a wellness-focused energy drink brand that markets itself as a cleaner alternative to traditional energy beverages.
The drink, called the GORGIE Cherry Crush Smoothie, is officially available Oct. 6 at Erewhon locations across Los Angeles. It is made with GORGIE’s Cherry Lime flavor — a product developed in collaboration with social media personality and performer Jordyn Jones — and combines cherry and lime notes with dried cherries, pineapple, pomegranate powder, maple, and beet juice for color.
Erewhon, originally established in the 1960s as a natural foods store, has in recent years become a cultural touchstone in Los Angeles for its celebrity-endorsed smoothies and wellness-focused offerings.
The smoothie is described by Erewhon as a lighter, lower-sugar option than many of its current offerings. The drink marks GORGIE’s second collaboration with the market, following its first Erewhon smoothie debut last year.
“Getting slushies was such a nostalgic part of my childhood, so bringing this together in a health and wellness light with Erewhon is a dream come true!” said Michelle Cordeiro Grant, GORGIE’s founder and CEO, in a statement. “This smoothie offers a fun, functional, flavorful and clean lift, whether enjoyed pre- or post-workout, while running errands or as a midday sweet treat.”
Founded in 2022, GORGIE is one of several newer energy drink brands positioning themselves around health and beauty benefits. Each can contains 150 milligrams of caffeine derived from green tea, as well as biotin, B vitamins and L-theanine, according to the brand. The company’s products are sold online and in retail stores nationwide, including Erewhon, which carries several flavors such as Watermelon Splash, Tropical Punch and Cherry Lime.
The GORGIE Cherry Crush Smoothie is expected to remain on Erewhon’s menu through the end of the year.
