  • Tesla posted two teaser videos on X, one of which flashes a date: “10/7.”
  • The first video showed a spinning vehicle part. The second showed headlights shining through the dark.
  • Many fans are anticipating Tesla’s “more affordable” Model Y. Some are guessing we could get an update on the new Roadster.

Tesla is cooking something up for tomorrow.

The electric vehicle company posted two new teaser videos to its X account. Neither had a caption, making it difficult to decode what the company could be announcing. One video did have a date, though: 10/7.

The first video, published at 3:05 a.m. ET on Sunday, showed a spinning vehicle piece. What part the video depicts remains unclear; fans have speculated everything from a wheel cover to an electric jet turbine.

Jokes abound. One user replied, “Finally the new Tesla Frisbee will be released.” Tesla responded with the bull’s-eye emoji.

One popular guess in the comments of both teasers was Tesla’s long-awaited cheaper vehicle, which is expected to be a stripped-down Model Y. In July, Tesla’s vice president of vehicle engineering, Lars Moravy, said that the company expects the new vehicle, which would resemble the Model Y, would be “available for everyone” in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Last week, online chatter about the “more affordable” vehicle reached a fever pitch. One Reddit user posted what appeared to be the vehicle spotted driving in the wild; another Tesla fan found what they said were mentions of the vehicle in the Tesla website’s code.

The buzz that a launch could be imminent was compounded by the fact that several Tesla influencers visited the Austin headquarters.

Other fans are guessing that the spinning-part video is a downward-draft electric turbine for the Tesla Roadster. Elon Musk announced the redesign of the Roadster — Tesla’s first-ever vehicle — in 2017. He then opened pre-orders, which required a $50,000 deposit. Musk has since said that the Roadster, anticipated to be Tesla’s most expensive vehicle, wasn’t as high a priority, but that the new supercar would be a SpaceX collaboration.

“It’s gonna be really cool, and it’s gonna have some rocket technology in it,” the Tesla CEO said in March 2024. “The only way to do something that’s cooler than the Cybertruck is to combine SpaceX and Tesla technology to create something that’s not even really a car.”

Almost eight years after Musk unveiled the new Roadster, the vehicles have yet to ship. YouTuber MKBHD recently canceled one of his Roadster reservations. “Tesla has been sitting with my 50 grand for eight years and hasn’t done anything with it, obviously,” he said.

Whatever Tesla has up its sleeve, it looks like fans are only hours away from getting an answer.
