Only Taylor Swift could co-opt the power of friendship bracelets twice in a single year.
Fans seem to think that the superstar singer has traded in her Eras Tour beads for something a bit splashier and worthy of her new “Showgirl” status, as evident by the bling featured in some of the visuals for her brand-new album.
Eagle-eyed Audrey Long of XOXO, Poship Girl pointed out on Instagram Saturday that in several of Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott’s photos for the record, Swift, 35, wears a pink sapphire and diamond bracelet from Lorraine Schwartz seemingly identical to one her former best friend, Blake Lively, has worn for years.
Even more curious is the fact that a shot of Swift wearing the piece is running on Spotify alongside the track “Cancelled!” — a song about which there has been much speculation.
“Good thing I like my friends cancelled / I like ’em cloaked in Gucci and in scandal / Like my whiskey sour / And poison thorny flowers,” Swift sings.
Lively’s ongoing legal battle with director and co-star Justin Baldoni over disputes during the filming of “It Ends with Us” has cast the actress in a negative light lately. Due to fallout from the suit, a rift reportedly erupted between the two longtime friends, who haven’t been spotted together since October of last year.
Is Lively’s character, Lily Bloom, the “poison thorny flower” to which Swift refers? And what about that whiskey sour? Does that come in a Betty Booze can, too?
Notably, Lively has worn a pink sapphire and diamond Lorraine Schwartz bracelet for many special events over the past decade, including the London premiere of “It Ends with Us” last August.
On Thursday, Instagram account WhoWoreWhatJewels was the first to question whether the two stars were wearing the same bracelet, and also posted photos of Swift wearing a pair of Lorraine Schwartz earrings for her “Showgirl” shoot that may have also been sourced from Lively’s jewelry box.
Lively, 38, wore the dangly chandelier earrings to the 2013 Met Gala, when the theme was “Punk: Chaos to Couture.”
While we know that Swift’s “Showgirl” era thus far has been marked by plenty of bling, Schwartz’s team has yet to confirm whether she’s wearing she same precious pieces seen on Lively.
Could this bracelet be a peace offering? Or perhaps a sign of strength and solidarity?
After all, diamonds — the hardest material on earth — are also a girl’s best friend.
