Two longtime Saturday Night Live staffers, producer Erin Doyle and writer/producer Erik Kenward, are getting promotions to senior-level producer and Head Writer, respectively, while another veteran writer, Bryan Tucker, is taking a break from NBC’s sketch comedy program.
The developments were revealed during the curtain call for Saturday Night Live‘s Season 51 premiere, which featured many of the same faces as the one for the Season 50 finale — including Bad Bunny front and center as host of the premiere after serving as musical guest at last season’s finale.
There were changes too — five cast members are not back, led by veterans Ego Nwodim and Heidi Gardner, and five new new cast members made their debut. Behind the scenes, there has been a shift too with five writers leaving, including Celeste Yim, and seven new ones joining.
The end credits rolling over the curtain call revealed more staffing changes.
Doyle, who has been a producer on SNL for 15 years and also has produced various offshoots and specials, has moved to the show’s top producing tear.
SNL has a group of senior producers just below executive producer Lorne Michaels and then a second level of producers. Doyle, who was part of the latter, has now joined the former alongside returning producers Steve Higgins and Erik Kenward.
Kenward, who has been a writer on SNL (and related programs) for 24 years, has scored a promotion as well, adding Head Writer responsibilities alongside Kent Sublette, Streeter Seidell and Alison Gates, who are returning in the roles.
Missing from the Season 51 end credits was Senior Writer Bryan Tucker, who has been a writer on SNL for 25 years, including a stint as a Head Writer. According to sources, he has taken a temporary leave and has not left the show permanently.
You can watch below the end credits for the Season 51 premiere and Season 50 finale to see all the staffing changes.
