Following her death at age 52, Hollywood is remembering Kimberly Hébert Gregory, the actress known for roles in Vice Principals, The Chi and Five Feet Apart.

After the actress’ ex-husband Chester Gregory announced her death in a heartfelt statement Sunday on Instagram, Walton Goggins also paid tribute to his former co-star from HBO’s Vice Principals.

“We lost one of the best yesterday… one of the best I’ve ever worked with. Kimberly Hebert Gregory,” he wrote on Instagram. “I had the honor… the good fortune of getting to know, getting to spend months working with this Queen on Vice Principals. She made me laugh like no other. A professionals professional. A gatdamn SOPRANO that never missed a note. You will be missed my friend. As much as you know,” he wrote.

Condolences also flooded the comments of Goggins and Chester’s posts. “So sorry my friend,” wrote Leslie Jones, as Niecy Nash called Kimberly “the sweetest soul.”

“I don’t understand this. I’m so sorry for you and your son’s loss @chestergregory. And OUR loss as a community,” Yvette Nicole Brown commented.

“Oh my god I’m devastated to hear this,” wrote Busy Philipps. “She was a light and a force. She will be missed.”

“Beautiful tribute, bro,” wrote Leslie Odom Jr. to Chester. “What a light she shared. I am so sorry to hear.”

Jason Ritter commented, “I am so sorry… absolutely heartbreaking. She was so brilliant and so kind, she will be so so missed by all of us lucky enough to know her.”

“This is so sad. She was such an amazing person and incredible talent. RIP,” wrote Asif Ali.

Born Dec. 7, 1972 in Houston, Kimberly attended the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts before getting her MFA from the Theatre School at DePaul University. Performing with the Chicago Theatre Company in the late ’90s, Kimberly was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her performance in By the Way, Meet Vera Stark.

On screen, Kimberly appeared in such movies as I Think I Love My Wife (2007), Spike Lee’s Red Hook Summer (2012), Arizona (2018), Five Feet Apart (2019), Miss Virginia (2019) and John Henry (2020).

Kimberly also appeared in such shows as Gossip Girl, Law & Order, Two and a Half Men, Shameless, The Big Bang Theory, Devious Maids, Grey’s Anatomy, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Better Call Saul.
