Donald Trump Wants FCC To “Look Into The License” Of NBC In Rant Over Al Sharpton’s MSNBC Show

Donald Trump once again called for an FCC investigation of a television network over their news coverage, this time over MSNBC’s continued employment of Al Sharpton.

On Truth Social, Trump wrote, “I knew Al Sharpton for many years, not that it matters, but he was a major ‘TRUMP’ fan. He’d ask me to go to his fake Rallies all the time, because I brought BIG Crowds, and he couldn’t get anybody to come without me. Then he did the Tawana Brawley Hoax, one of the worst Low Level Scams in History, and that set him back, BIG TIME! Then he got to know Brian Roberts, Chairman of Fake News NBC, who gave him what would become one of the Lowest Rated Shows in Television History. Roberts is afraid to take him off because it wouldn’t be ‘Politically Correct.’ This is just one of the many reasons that the Federal Communications Commission should look into the license of NBC, which shows almost exclusively positive Democrat content. Likewise, ABC Fake News — About the same thing, 97% negative to Republicans!”

The FCC licenses broadcast stations, not networks, and has limited oversight over MSNBC because it is a cable network.

But Trump has a history of calling for networks to be investigated over their news coverage, even though it is protected by the First Amendment.

Trump’s FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, became a household name last month after he warned ABC stations over a remark that Jimmy Kimmel made on his show. Hours later, Nexstar said it was pulling Kimmel’s show, and ABC suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! indefinitely. But after a backlash, ABC returned Kimmel to the air, and Nexstar and another station group, Sinclair, followed later in the week.

PoliticsNation with Al Sharpton started as a weekday show on MSNBC in 2011, and later switched to a weekend time slot.

MSNBC is preparing to be spun off from Comcast later this year and rebranded as MS NOW.

On the season premiere of Saturday Night Live this weekend, the cold open skewered Trump’s media attacks, with Carr (Mikey Day) portrayed as the president’s lackey.

Spokespersons for Comcast and MSNBC did not immediately returned requests for comment.
