  • Watches are a core part of the wardrobes of many successful men.
  • Speaking with Business Insider, men across industries shared their favorite timepieces.
  • Some like tech-based options, like Apple Watches, while others prefer luxe Omega wrist candy.

Time is money — literally.

Watches are some of the most expensive and luxurious accessories on the market. They’ve become status symbols for the rich and influential, like Mark Zuckerberg, and markers of style for everyday fashion fans.

But everyone approaches watches differently. Some like tech-based options, while others go for collector pieces.

So Business Insider reached out to successful men across industries to learn their favorites. These are the watches they wear every day.

An equity research professional says his Omega watch stands out in his collection.

Bobby Mollins, 35, is the director of internet research at Gordon Haskett. Business Insider previously named him a rising star of his industry.

He has “quite a few” watches in his collection, but his favorite is Omega’s Seamaster Planet Ocean.

He wears an $8,000 model that he chose for two reasons.

“I wanted a watch for daily wear that was more modern looking and sturdier — heavier, thicker, and with greater anti-magnetism — than a Rolex Submariner,” he said. “I also appreciated how versatile the Omega watch is in terms of pairing it with various outfits.”

The founder of a brand development agency alternates between two timepieces.

Antonio White, 38, started his career as a deputy assistant secretary of community engagement at the US Treasury Department. Now, he’s the founder of 480 Advisors, which works with executive brands and government officials.

Speaking with Business Insider, he said he utilizes two watches.

First, his Apple Watch is a “mainstay for workouts and fitness competitions,” White said. More often, though, he’s seen sporting the $150 Nixon Time Teller in gold.

“I’ve kept this watch in my style rotation for over 10 years,” he said. “It has a classic look with an urban sophistication, which makes it super flexible. I wear it with casual and semi-formal wear.”

Its low price point is also ideal.

“I travel a lot, so if I lose it, I’m not as bummed out,” he said.

A lifestyle influencer says his most consistently worn watch comes from Citizen.

Alex Nicoll, 30, once worked for Fortune 500 companies. Now, he’s a lifestyle content creator who makes videos about men’s fashion.

Nicoll told Business Insider that his most worn watch is also the most expensive in his collection: the $650 Super Titanium timepiece from Citizen.

Not only is it “relatively affordable for the average guy,” he said, but it’s also stylish.

“I love this watch because of the beautiful blue dial and the pop of color it brings to my outfits,” he said. “It is a massive compliment getter.”

A venture capitalist says his Apple Watch does everything he needs.

Samuel Garcia, 31, is a partner at Amplo. That role earned him a spot on Business Insider’s list of rising stars of venture capital last year.

Though he doesn’t wear watches every day, there is one he’s pretty loyal to: his Apple Watch.

“It’s almost exclusively for functionality and not for telling the time,” he said. “I’m trying to track my heart rate. I’ve seen a lot of folks my age realize that they’re developing sorts of cardiac conditions, so I’ve been really aware of that and trying to get ahead of it.”

Apple Watches retail between $249 and $799 each, depending on the model you buy.

Another venture capitalist has found a middle ground between department store and luxury with Tudor.

Brannon Jones, 31, is also a Business Insider rising star of venture capital thanks to his work at AlleyCorp.

He owns several time-telling accessories, from Citizen watches to a Breitling timepiece. His favorite, though, is a $4,500 Black Bay 58 from Tudor.

“It’s a nice watch, but not so nice that you’re worried about beating it up,” he told Business Insider. “It’s pretty classic and goes with most outfits.”

Tudor’s Black Bay watches range between $3,950 and $34,800.

One tech CEO swears by Vaer watches.

Chase Dwyer, 28, is the CEO of Carbon Ridge, a company he cofounded to develop carbon capture technology for maritime shipping.

He told Business Insider that he’s a fan of the watch brand Vaer, which was created by surfers in Venice, California, only a few miles from his home base of Santa Monica.

“They’re reasonably priced, but they’re very durable and good quality,” he said. “I wear them when I’m in meetings, at dinner, and in shipyards. So it’s on my wrist most of the day, pretty much wherever I am.”

The price of a Vaer watch ranges from $179 to $1,099.
