(WHNT) — The calendar has officially flipped over to the month of October, and around here, that means that the race for region championships is heating up.
It also means for some the end of the line is just a few weeks away, while for others the aspirations of playing into December are growing larger and larger.
Week six is officially in the books across the Tennessee Valley and we had a lot of great games go down tonight.
Including a massive one in Stevenson tonight between the Madison Academy Mustangs and the North Jackson Chiefs
This one is going down in the Chiefs’ den in beautiful Stevenson.
Chiefs on offense first, handoff to Kaydn Pace. Pace is trying to get outside, and he does, and he’s got a whole lot of room to run. All the way to the endzone and North Jackson strikes first.
Madison Academy is on offense now. Charleston Owens drops back to pass. He’s feeling pressure, breaks outside, and he sees a wide-open Zyan Williams. Lobs it up and Williams does the rest…The mustangs are moving…
Later in the drive, Owens drops back to pass, and he’s got all day. This is what makes this young man special: he sfnever panics, just looking to find which receiver breaks loose, and this time it’s Alex Crider.
Mustangs on the goal line hand off to Daylen Scott, and Scott gets in for the score.
Later in this one, Madison Academy is punting, and the deep man, Haven Massengile, is dangerous. He breaks free and gets a great return for the Chiefs.
Then, a little later, hand off to Nick Price, and he’s the leading rusher for a reason. Price breaks through and pays dirt.
Madison Academy wins a shootout over North Jackson 57-56.
