A newborn sloth is making this zoo all warm and fuzzy.
An adorable tiny two-toed sloth named Beanie’s Baby made its public debut at Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, according to 6ABC.
The little one, who was born in August and weighs only two pounds, got its name from its mom, Beanie, who became pregnant while at Rhode Island’s Roger Williams Park Zoo.
“She was then recommended to come to us midway through her pregnancy, which is generally the safest time for them to move; this gives them plenty of time to acclimate to their new home before delivery,” Elmwood Park Zoo explained in an Instagram post.
“We received Beanie knowing that she was pregnant and have been able to carefully monitor her throughout her pregnancy.”
The mammal’s gender is yet to be determined, since both male and female sloths look outwardly the same, and require DNA testing, which happens after five months once the baby separates from its mother.
