A DUI suspect is in custody after crashing into and seriously injuring a teenage boy in Victorville on Friday night, authorities confirm.
The crash happened around 9:16 p.m. near Nisqualli Road and 2nd Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies say the 13-year-old boy was riding his bike eastbound on Nisqualli Road when a white Toyota Camry struck him in the roadway. The teen suffered major injuries and was first taken to St. Mary Medical Center before being airlifted to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Rosalie Morales of Victorville, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, officials said.
The Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team responded to conduct the investigation. Nisqualli Road was shut down between First and Third avenues for several hours while crews worked the scene.
