A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault involving two juveniles in Blythe, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies with the Colorado River Sheriff’s Station first responded to the 800 block of West Chanslor Way around 12:02 p.m. on Sept. 30 after receiving a report of an assault, Sergeant Kent Eckenrode said in a press release. When deputies arrived, they were unable to locate any victims or evidence of a crime.
Further investigation later identified two male juvenile victims. One was assaulted, sustained injuries, and was treated at a local hospital. The other was the victim of a robbery during the same incident, authorities said.
The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Jaymien Solorio of Blythe. Sheriff’s officials noted he was already out on bail for an unrelated case at the time.
On Oct. 1, at about 11:28 a.m., deputies located Solorio in the 200 block of North Lovekin Boulevard. He was detained without incident, and deputies said evidence related to the robbery was found during a search.
Solorio was booked into the Blythe Jail on suspicion of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, making criminal threats, possession of stolen property, and committing a felony while out on bail, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy Aguilar at the Colorado River Station at 760-921-7900. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Sheriff’s Crime Tips online form.
