The two men who were killed in a terrorist attack on a synagogue in England were named on Friday by British police as Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66.
Mr. Daulby and Mr. Cravitz were killed in the attack on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, by a man who rammed his car into people outside the synagogue, Heaton Park Congregation, and then went on a stabbing spree. Three other people were injured and remain hospitalized.
The attack has added to growing fears about the safety of Jews around the world amid a rising wave of antisemitism. British authorities declared it an act of terrorism, and counterterrorism police identified the perpetrator on Thursday night as Jihad al-Shamie, 35, a British citizen of Syrian descent.
In a statement on Friday morning, Greater Manchester Police said that the families of the two victims had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
“My deepest sympathies are with Mr. Daulby and Mr. Cravitz’s loved ones at this extremely hard time,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes, who is coordinating the casualty response for the police.
