Elon Musk continued his swipes at Netflix today over the 2022-2023 animated series Dead End: Paranormal Park which featured a transgender character. Days after calling for his X followers to cancel the streaming service, he’s reposting followers’ comments lambasting “transgender propaganda.”

Yesterday, Hamish Steele, the creator of Dead End: Paranormal Park, informed his followers on BlueSky that he would be taking a social media break due to “extremely nasty weird homophobic and antisemitic emails” he was receiving. “I will just say today is much much worse and I am going to basically be on the down low for the foreseeable,” he wrote. “My apologies.”

Although the series was canceled in 2023, it remains on the service. In one of the cartoon’s episodes, the character Barney Guttman says he is transgender. A clip of that moment has made the social media rounds in recent days. Musk too latched on to the anti-Netflix trend, writing on X, “This is not ok” and “Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids.”

Netflix has not commented on the matter.

Creator Steele at first seemed to take the backlash in stride, posting on Tuesday, “It’s probably going to be a very odd day.” Regarding an X post shared by Musk that accused Netflix of promoting the long-canceled series, Steele responded lightheartedly, “It’s all lies and slander! Netflix is NOT promoting at the moment!”

Later that day, Steele posted, “I have mostly been very ok today and found it all quite funny, while really appreciating everyone who has reached out, but the extremely nasty weird homophobic and antisemitic emails have started rolling in and it is getting a little scary so I apologize if I take longer to respond to stuff.”

Still later, he wrote that he was receiving Instagram comments accusing him of celebrating the death of Charlie Kirk (“Which I never did,” he wrote), and, finally, he posted the message about the day being “much much worse” and taking a social media break.

Among the X tweets that Musk reposted today was one that said, “Transgender propaganda isn’t just quietly lurking in the background on Netflix. They are actively pushing it on users.” Musk commented, “True.”
