On Sept. 9, police responded to the area of Tatum and Shea boulevards around 2 a.m. for a two-car collision.
When officers arrived on scene, both vehicles were still on scene and they found 28-year-old Alec Carbine suffering from critical injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police said the driver of the vehicle had minor injuries.
According to Phoenix police, the second vehicle was driven by Bonanno and had three passengers. One of the passengers had non-life-threatening injuries and the other two had only minor injuries.
Preliminary information suggested that the car driven by Bonanno failed to stop for a red light and struck the vehicle Carbine was a passenger in, police said.
Bonanno reportedly showed no signs of impairment.
