SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points from NBC‘s Chicago P.D.’s Season 13 premiere.

On tonight’s premiere of NBC’s Chicago P.D., fans learned what happens to Toya Turner‘s character, Officer Kiana Cook, following the actress’s exit from the series.

Kiana was last seen in the Season 12 finale “Vows,” as an honored guest at Detective Kim Burgess’ wedding to Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).

In tonight’s episode, aptly titled “Consequences,” it is revealed that Kiana “took a permanent spot in the 17th,” due to Voight’s Intelligence Unit being put on the back burner following an investigation into his involvement in the death of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy).

Voight confirmed her new position in a conversation with the new boss in town, Commander Devlin (Joel Murray), who declined to reinstate his team even though they had been cleared in the matter concerning Reid. The Intelligent Unit’s leader was pushing for the team to get back to business before they lost any more of their colleagues.

Turner joined the cast in 2024, making her debut early in Season 12. The character is a former tactical officer demoted to patrol by her supervisor after noting his tendencies to avoid any real work to preserve his pension. She catches the attention of Intelligence after helping catch the killer of their latest addition, Detective Emily Martel. She is later recruited by Voight (Jason Beghe), whom she helped with a case involving teenage girls killing their abusers.

Deadline revealed exclusively in June that Turner would be leaving the show for reasons unknown after one season.

At the time, she said of her departure, “My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.”
