Dozens of L.A. County restaurants shut down due to ‘vermin,’ other issues

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health ordered the temporary closure of dozens of restaurants and markets in September after they failed health inspections, often due to vermin infestations or other health safety issues.

The inspections focus on practices such as maintaining safe food temperatures, proper food handling, employee hygiene, and keeping facilities clean and free of pests. “Vermin” typically refers to rodents, cockroaches, flies and ants.
