EXCLUSIVE: Following a highly competitive situation, A24 has boarded Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, the sci-fi thriller from Together writer/director Michael Shanks. Shanks, who wrote the script that appeared on the 2021 Black List, will also direct and produce the project.
The sci fi thriller follows a man wakes up trapped in a mysterious hotel room. All alone in a mind-bending prison, his only chance for escape is teamwork: with himself.
The film will be produced by Mike Cowap of Princess Pictures and Adam McKay and Todd Schulman of HyperObject Industries.
Shanks was one of the big winners at this years Sundance Film Festival where his body horror comedy Together not only earning rave reviews but one of the bigger acquisition deals of the festival when Neon came in to land distrib rights.
The film bowed this summer and grossed $32 million at the global box-office, strong results for an indie horror pic in the thick of the summer tentpole season. When Shanks declared that Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel would be next up, A24 moved fast to make sure that they were the home of his next film and are now moving fast to get it up and running as Shanks begins the casting process.
