Dolly Parton has postponed what was planned to be her first extended run in Las Vegas in more than three decades, forcing fans to wait nearly another year before they can see the country music icon onstage.
Parton, 79, said in a statement shared to Instagram on Sunday night that she would delay her six December concerts at Caesars Palace until September 2026 because “health challenges” required her to have a “few procedures.”
The shows, one of the most anticipated engagements of the year, were expected to weave seven decades of hits, including “9 to 5,” “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You.” Tickets had been sold out for weeks, with resale value in the thousands.
Parton did not disclose the exact status of her health but showed that her characteristic sense of humor remained intact.
“It must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up,” she joked on Instagram, “although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Parton, whose husband of nearly six decades, Carl Dean, died in March at age 82, said she would continue working on her projects from Nashville until she was able to be “show ready.”
“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she added. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
Parton announced last year that her biographical musical, “Hello, I’m Dolly” — which she had been working on for about a decade — would arrive on Broadway in 2026.
It was unclear if that show would go on as planned.
A representative for Parton did not immediately return a request for comment on Monday.
